In a fast-paced world, a simple act of kindness can make all the difference. The smallest gestures, like smiling, making someone a drink, or sending a thoughtful message can brighten someone’s day. Even if you feel aggrieved, rewind and be kind! That spontaneous generosity will make you feel great too! As it’s Random Acts of Kindness Day, here are some ways you can spread gratitude.
1. Cook for someone
The last thing you want to do after a busy day is cook. It’s just another chore when you’re already exhausted. Whilst easy recipes and meal kits can help ease the stress, going the extra-mile and cooking for someone else can have a massive psychological benefit. It’s an altruistic act that makes people feel happy and connected. We have plenty of great ideas online to inspire the perfect dinner. Try our pork confit mac n cheese, or our truffle brie and charcuterie pizza.
2. Surprise someone with a gift
The act of giving not only makes someone feel happy, it releases dopamine and serotonin which helps you feel good, reducing stress and enhancing emotional resilience. Being generous is key for strong relationships, through empathy and compassion. Gifts of all shapes and sizes have the same impact. You could give a basket full of luxury food, like our Wine & Cheese Hamper to say congratulations, or something like our Smoked Salmon & Fizz gift box to make someone feel special. Even if it’s a gift card for someone to treat themselves to the taste of artisan, the thought is what counts.
3. Have a conversation
Lending an ear for someone to open up and share their thoughts can take a massive weight off someone’s shoulders. You’ll also feel like you’ve built bridges, and who knows where that connection may go? Invite someone over for a drink and perhaps share a bottle of Tanners Cava Brut, or maybe go for a picnic when the weather’s good.
